The Nigerian equities market closed the week in the positive region as the All-Share Index gained 0.68%, pushing the YtD return up to 12.88%. The market breadth settled at 1.08x, reflecting forty-three (43) gainers and forty (40) losers.
Once again, JAPAULOIL closed the week as the top gainer after its price advanced by 53.97% to close at NGN0.97. The ticker was trailed by HMARKINS (+34.48%), LASACO (+25.71%), UNILEVER (+20.66%) and CAVERTON (+19.91%). REGALINS was the worst performing stock this week, as its price shed 27.08% to close at NGN0.35. Other losers in the week were AFRINSURE (-27.08%), FTNCOCOA (-13.51%), SOVRENINS (-13.16%) and CILEASING (-9.74%).
Mixed sentiments pervaded the market this week as indicated by the NSE sector indices. The oil & gas sector was the best performing sector this week, as the NSEOILG5 index advanced by 5.58%. The consumer goods and industrial goods sectors also closed in the positive region this week, as the NSEFBT10 and NSEIND indices gained 1.70% apiece. In contrast, the NSEBNK10 and NSEINS10 indices pared by 1.08% and 0.74% accordingly.
